How a wildlife rehabilitation center operates
Species identification of mammal, raptor, and songbird species
Wildlife husbandry
Medical triage & continued care of sick & injured animals
Care of infant wildlife
Tasks
Observe & assist with intake exams
Bottle feed baby mammals
Hand feed baby songbirds
Facility maintenance (including laundry, dishes, sweeping, mopping, enclosure cleaning)
Prepare diets
Interns must be comfortable with
Working with wild animals that may have zoonotic diseases
Working with wild animals that may bite and/or scratch
Doing lots of cleaning
Working outside on hot days (with breaks, we have AC inside)
Euthanasia of wildlife that cannot be released (interns will not be euthanizing animals)
Handling deceased rodents (for feeding out to our patients)
